That’s right….we’ll soon be hearing the peeps of little chicks at CCM Edgewood once again! We’ll welcome our new arrivals in the form of eggs on May 31, and they’ll live in the incubator for about three weeks. While there, we’ll “candle” the eggs periodically so we can see what’s going on inside as the chickens develop and grow.
Their projected hatch date is June 21! Once they’ve all hatched they’ll leave their home in the incubator and move to a cage, where you’ll be able to watch them eat, run around and be the cute and fluffy babies that they are! They’ll stay with us for about two weeks before they’ll outgrow their space and it’ll be time to move on.
Here’s a rough schedule of when we expect things will be happening — but, of course, nature can sometimes bring surprises!
June 1 — Today’s day one! We’ll candle the eggs before putting them in the incubator.
June 2 — The eggs are still getting used to the incubator, so it’s important that we don’t disturb them for a few days.
