SUMMER FUN IS WAITING FOR YOU AT CCM EDGEWOOD!
This summer we’re doing things a little bit differently with our kids’ programming. We have five different camps, each one lasting four days, and each one filled with fun, excitement and an opportunity to learn new things! Registration is required for each of the camps and opens on May 1.

The goal of GSK Science in the Summer is to increase children’s value of and confidence in doing science and pursuing STEM careers, especially children from backgrounds currently underrepresented in STEM fields. The program aims to do this by providing opportunities for children to embody science careers, think scientifically, practice authentic science techniques and have fun! It focuses on creating memorable, engaging science experiences, rather than acquiring new science knowledge.
The Be a Physicist! program invites children to take on the role of scientists as they investigate different forms of energy and use the principles of physics to solve real-world problems. The activities encourage children to practice scientific techniques and explore the following big ideas:
• Energy comes in different forms, like heat, light, sound, and motion
• Energy can change from one form into another, move from place to place, or transfer from one object to another
• Scientists use models to test ideas and understand complicated systems
Each Be a Physicist activity highlights a real-world career through a story that invites children to play the role of a person in that career, while exploring how energy moves, changes, and shapes the world around them:
1. Be an Accident Investigator
2. Be a Laser Scientist
3. Be a Materials Scientist
4. Be a Power Plant Engineer
5. Be a Sound Engineer
Why did the chicken cross the road? To get to chicken camp at the library! That’s right, once again this summer we’ll be hosting chicken eggs in an incubator and patiently waiting for them to hatch into cute little baby chicks. It’s so EGGciting! Chicken Camp is your chance to join in on the fun! We’ll play games, learn facts, make crafts, and, of course, get to hang out with our feathered friends.!
Are you curious about sewing? Do you love the textures of different kinds of yarn and fabric? At Fiber Arts Camp, we’ll be working on our sewing, weaving, and knotting skills together! We’ll make a number of projects over the four days, including a pizza pillow, friendship bracelets, finger knit snakes, and a group weaving creation.
Get messy and make some art with Ms. Erin at CCM Edgewood! We’ll be bringing out our messiest art supplies and techniques, so make sure you wear some old clothes and sunscreen in case we have to move this mess outside!
Starting kindergarten this fall? Whether you’re excited, nervous, or a bit of both, join us at CCM Edgewood for four days of stories and activities to welcome in the new school year. We’ll make new friends and practice skills together to ease the transition into kindergarten.
