Summer Reading 2020

Update 9/1/2020: Summer Reading 2020 is now over. We had so much fun reading and learning with you this year, even if we couldn’t be together in person! There are more programs and activities planned for the fall and winter, so check out our programs for adults, teens and children.

Log your reading & engage with your library!

Over thirty libraries across Allegheny County have collaborated together to present digital summer reading programs. For more information about the details and dates of each library’s program, or Beanstack account questions contact CCM.

Summer Reading 2020 Children’s Bingo

For each of the eight weeks of the summer reading, a new bingo card will be featured that provides reading prompts and activities that correspond with the weekly theme. Participants must complete one bingo card before submitting to aclasummerreading@einetwork.net or their local participating library. Maximum of two cards per participant. A different prize will be distributed randomly each week to those who submit a completed bingo card.

Follow ACLA Youth Services (@aclayouthservices) on Facebook for ideas on how to complete some of the squares. Share pictures of your adventures completing the bingo card by tagging ACLA Youth Services and using the hashtags #aclasummerreading2020 or #aclasummerbingocard.

Grab-and-Go Kits

Looking for something fun and screen-free to do this summer? Pick up a grab-and-go kit from the library! We’ll have a variety of activity prompts, art supplies, STEM activities, and more, with materials to keep and new kits available every two weeks!

Pick up grab-and-go kits during curbside pickup hours at CCM Edgewood and CCM Forest Hills.

Librarian Pen Pals

Do you miss your librarians? We miss you too! Grab a pencil and paper and drop us a line. Don’t forget the stamp! We would love to be your pen pal and we will send you back an old-fashioned letter. So, send us a hello in the mail. You could draw us a picture or tell us what you’ve been doing during quarantine and we will write you back.

Our address is: 1 Pennwood Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15218.

If you wish, you may also send email to either Erin Tobiasz at tobiasze2@einetwork.net or Jennifer Bell at bellj2@einetwork.net.

Story Stroll

Take a stroll with a story at your local park! From June 15 to October 31, we’ll have a picture book set up page-by-page along the path. As you stroll down the trail, you’re directed to the next page in the story. It’s a great way for kids and adults to enjoy reading and the outdoors at the same time! Check back for a new book every two weeks. Learn more
