Adopt-a-Book

Did you know that, right now, there are hundreds of books just waiting to make their way into the C.C. Mellor Memorial Library collection?

These adult and children’s titles, both fiction and non, are yearning to take their place in our catalog and venture forth spreading joy to our patrons, but they can’t do it without you.

Will you help a lonely book find its way to our shelves this month?

Join us for our first-ever Adopt-a-Book event on Friday, Sept. 30 and you can not only help our collection grow but also indulge your inner rebel by being in the library after it closes, drinking beer and wine, and noshing on delicious snacks. That’s right, we’re throwing the rules right out the window! Except you do have to be 21 or older to enjoy the beer and wine. That rule stays.

We’ll have our adoptable book titles on display so you can browse until you find one that speaks to you. You’ll then have the opportunity to “adopt” it, which means that you’ll give us money, we’ll keep the book, and you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing that your generosity is helping to educate, entertain and enlighten your neighbors. There is a flat “adoption” fee of $30 per book.

But wait, that’s not all!

We’ll also commemorate your contribution to our collection with a special bookplate. Your name will be displayed inside the front cover of the book, and you can choose to honor or remember a special loved one with your gift.

Perhaps best of all, since it’s Love Your Library month, any money you spend helping to add to our collection will help us to unlock matching funds thanks to the Jack Buncher Foundation.

So mark your calendars on your phone, your fridge and anywhere else your calendars live and be sure to be at CCM Edgewood on Friday, Sept. 30. There is no registration required for this event, so just come on by!

The books thank you, and we thank you.
