C.C. Mellor Memorial Library receives $750,000 Keystone grant for upcoming building renovations
PITTSBURGH (April 14, 2026) – C. C. Mellor Memorial Library (CCM) is pleased to announce that the library has been awarded a $750,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) Office of Commonwealth Libraries (OCL) to support upcoming building renovations. This grant matches funds raised from individuals and organizations for the A Century of Stories, A Future of Possibilities campaign.
The capital project will replace the roof and renovate interior space in the Pennwood Avenue building, updating the space while honoring the historic foundation and legacy of the building.
The campaign cabinet committee wants to express their gratitude to the local government officials and municipalities for their support of the grant application, including Churchill Borough Council, Braddock Hills Council, Edgewood Borough Council, Forest Hills Borough Council and Wilkins Township Board of Commissioners.
The committee also wants to extend a special thank you to Representative Abigail Salisbury and Senator Jay Costa who were instrumental in the grant application process and support of their public libraries. In a recent press release, Senator Costa said, “libraries foster a lifelong love of learning, providing space for friends and neighbors to engage with books, media, data, and social services. I look forward to continuing to support our public libraries so that every Pennsylvanian has ready access to knowledge, books, internet, social services, and belonging.”
CCM would like to congratulate the four other libraries in Allegheny County who received funding through this grant.
