From our Director
If there is a single thread that runs through 2025, it is community.
This has been a remarkable year for CC Mellor Memorial Library. As we continue to listen and respond to the needs of our neighbors, thoughtfully refining our programs and services, we are encouraged to see that enthusiasm returned in kind. The library remains a place where connections are formed, ideas are shared, and a sense of belonging continues to grow.
Our programming has deepened this sense of connection. We have seen a clear desire among our adult patrons for opportunities to gather and engage with one another. Programs such as our crafting circle, bridge club, mahjong group, social hour, and conversation salon have become vibrant spaces where neighbors come together around shared interests. This same spirit is reflected in our youth programming, where social interaction is a key ingredient in success. Baby Talk, Teen Board Game Club, and Pajama Storytime bring families together in meaningful ways.
We have also expanded what the library offers beyond traditional collections. New additions, including our board game and bestseller collections, have been met with tremendous enthusiasm. So much so that they are rarely on the shelves for long.
None of this would be possible without the generosity of our volunteers. Each month, dozens of individuals give their time and energy to support the library. They assist with programs, help maintain our collections, and represent the library at community events, ensuring that our presence is felt both within our walls and beyond them.
In 2025, we also embraced new and innovative ways to serve our community. By welcoming social work interns, we have been able to provide support for patrons with more complex needs. We established a food pantry and began offering resources such as overdose test strips, Narcan, and menstrual products. All of this allow us to meet essential needs with dignity and care.
As we look toward 2026, we are filled with excitement and anticipation. With the continued support and energy of our community, we will embark on a renovation of the library, an investment that will allow us to better serve our patrons and strengthen our role as a vital community hub for years to come.
Warmly,

Making Memories
The library is a place for connection and community, and nothing brings people together like a celebration. In 2025, CCM took our festivities to a new level with the Pumpkin decorating contest in October and a Count Down to Noon party on New Years Eve.
Pumpkin Decorating Contest
Who doesn’t love a little friendly competition? CCM hosted our first pumpkin decorating contest in the children’s room where teams submitted their pumpkins inspired by book characters. The library supplied the first 50 interested groups with pumpkins for free and we received 20 entries from groups of families and friends who went above and beyond creating creative decorated pumpkins. Once all of the pumpkins arrived, library visitors got to vote on their favorite pumpkin, with 334 total votes at the end of the contest.

“Voters ranged in age from toddlers through adulthood, and everyone loved finding characters they knew and clever uses of pumpkins!”
– Erin Tobiasz, Youth Services Manager
Countdown to Noon
For many, New Year’s Eve is one of the best nights of the year, full of parties, celebration, and spending time with loved ones; however, kids often miss out of the fun because its past their bedtime. That’s why we threw our first ever Countdown to Noon Party so our youngest patrons could ring in the new year with friends and family but still make it home for nap time.
The kids got to make new year’s resolutions, decorate party hats, play games, and more leading up to the big event, the countdown to noon complete with noise makers, a balloon drop and a rendition of Auld Lang Syne. More than 60 kids and 50 adults were in attendance, making it one of the biggest programs of the year!
The astronomical turnout at our Countdown to Noon party really showed how hungry our community was for children’s events this time of year! We had a blast trying out noisemakers, decorating and wearing party hats, and counting down to our balloon drop at noon.
Creating Community
At CCM, we know that communities are stronger when businesses, institutions, and individuals come together and support each other, which is why we launched the Community Business Partnership Program in 2025. C.C. Mellor Memorial Library’s Community Business Partners are businesses operating in our service area & community who have strong civic pride and community values that support the library through an annual donation.
