We’re partnering up with Alex’s Lemonade Stand to bring kids ages 8 – 12 together as pen pals! Local kids will be matched up with kids across the country experiencing cancer themselves or in the their families. We’re excited that the Community Library of Allegheny Valley is joining our program!
Registration for our Penpal Program is now closed, but check back in the fall, when it opens back up.
What is expected from participants?
Pen pals will send two letters to their pen pal a month. The program will run from October to the end of January (four months in total).
What is the timeframe?
All of the matches have been sent out! Remember to pick up your special letter-writing kit from the library! It’ll show you the basics of writing a letter and how to address an envelope, as well as contain fun stationary supplies to get you started. Library kids will send the first letter, so you can break into the kit right away!
October, November, December, January: Participants will send one letter to their penpal in October, and then two letters to their assigned partner each following month. A reminder email with fun writing/drawing prompts will go out each month to keep the fun going!
What do I receive from participating?
A new friendship! Happy mail is so much fun! Library participants will also receive a special kit from C.C. Mellor with fun stationary supplies, writing prompts, and more!
